This not That; Love not Fear

I have thoughts and ideas that brew like coffee during the times leading up to writing a blog post. I knew vaguely that would be about the duality of choices affecting us, and being presented on a daily, if not moment-by-moment basis. When I woke today, everything crystallized and was confirmed by the words of the first song I heard:
Don’t think about all the things you fear…just be glad to be here. Hayling by FC Kahuna
It all boils down to Love or Fear. Two four-letter words that are miles apart in the import and energy, because they accurately sum up the energy facing us in March 2025. The REALITY and tie-in to the February blog about energy and intention is carried over to this blog about love and fear. When we unite in spirit, intention and action in love, fear loses its grip and the ability to divide us and control our thoughts and actions.
Like you, I am affected by the events happening at the governmental level. Like you, I struggle with staying focused on my goals and reality, while maintaining awareness of current events. My solution is staying committed to the positive things I am doing in my life

and community to follow my goals and dreams, while helping my friends and family and nurturing those connections. It’s been a week of loss (passing of a dear friend) and joy (my puppy is finally clicking and understanding communication as we walk) and wonder (everything is blooming and the silly and profoundly beautiful daffydils are out). I began to count not only the blessings in this crazy life but also reconnect to all that I loved about that life.
This week I heard a different energetic interpretation of the Vernal Equinox, or First Day of Spring in plain-speak. When one is thinking endings and beginnings, energetically at least, the first day of Spring is essentially the birth of a new year much more so than January 1st. I absolutely will not bore you talking about the esoteric merits and faults of the Gregorian calendar (the one we use now) vs the Julian calendar (the one replaced hundreds of years ago by a papal bully). To the people of the natural world, the beginning of spring was the real beginning of new life and growth. The growing light and lengthening of the days spoke of promise and growth of crops, and new births of companion animals, and awakening of the trees from their slumber. There has been a steady increase in the hours of daylight and length of days since the Solstice and the shortest day of the year on December 21. We have ridden an emotional and political rollercoaster since then. We can focus on detail of the depredations and crises and headlines since then, or we can reach for a new energetic attitude that will strengthen us, and which can carry us through anything that happens moving forward. I think that attitude is embodied in the simple question:
Will you be One with Love or Controlled by Your Fear?

Take as long as it takes to let that question sink in. Most of the power of dictators, authoritarians and the despotic rulers of history lies in their ability to divide, conquer and stoke fear. Ethnicities within countries have been divided and had these divisions exploited to create hatred and genocide (Rwanda and the Tutsi and Hutus; Croatia and Bosnia and Serbia). Leaders within both of those areas used hatred and ethnic divisions to fuel horrible massacres that scar the energy, psyche and landscape of those countries and area to this day. The land remembers the echoes of mass slaughter and hate. The energetic vibrations of those atrocities can be felt in areas of mass conflict and death to this day. Divisions, difference and fear were exploited by those in power in almost every situation of genocidal violence to gain power which often crumbled as rapidly as it was acquired. The question that must be asked is whether the hatred and fear whipped into a fever pitch during those conflicts produced anything other than death and chaos. Appealing to our base instincts and our fears has been used for millennia to incite acts of despicable horror and hatred against those who are perceived to be different or even against neighbors and relatives. Instead of inflaming, observing these efforts should provoke a journey within and asking about the true motivation of the emotions being invoked by the “leaders” espousing the aggression. It sounds simplistic but it really all boils down to whether the origin and wellspring of this emotion is love or fear. Once you realize that, the question is Will You Love or be Controlled by your Fear. Will you live in the Light or despair in the Darkness? It’s duality. It is also the ultimate choice in life: Love or fear? Life or death? We are blessed with both sentience and free will, and the ability to choose our mindset and course of action. Both are gifts from the Divine.

What will you choose and do with the precious gift that is your life on this amazing planet that is our home and the source of endless wonder? There is freedom in love and joy that will never be matched by the smallness, hopelessness, and lack that is embodied by how fear controls and restricts your life. I wish you peace, love and joy. Off now to see the world through the eyes of my puppy.
